Scarlett Johansson is reportedly engaged to journalist Romain Dauriac.
A source told People magazine, “They’re engaged and very happy.” A representative for the actress had no comment.
Dauriac allegedly proposed about a month ago with a vintage Art Deco ring, which Johansson was photographed wearing while promoting Under the Skin at the Venice Film Festival earlier this week.
Dauriac, the former editor of French art magazine Clark , and Johansson met through a mutual friend . They are both friends with French tattoo artist Fuzi Uvtpk, who recently did Johansson’s “Lucky You” horseshoe tattoo.
However, the ring could just be a ring. In February, Johansson was spotted wearing a large pear-cut diamond on her ring finger, but it was actually something she had picked out herself. The 28-year-old Golden Globe nominee was spotted wearing a diamond and ruby gold ring on her left hand in July, but a rep said that she was “not engaged nor close to being engaged.” Another source said that the ring was “simply a piece of jewelry.
Scarlett Johannson has been married once before. She and Ryan Reynolds were married on September 27, 2008, in a quiet ceremony near Tofino, British Columbia. The couple announced their separation on December 14, 2010, and their divorce was finalized on July 1, 2011.
Johansson said in an interview with Elle UK in February that she had no intention of getting married again.
“I got married when I was young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually. But it is different. It’s hard to put into words,” she said. “To me, being in a functioning relationship doesn’t mean you have to be married. I never think about marriage. Is that weird? The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me. ‘Would I get married again?’ It’s really not important to me. It has no relevance to me right now.
Perhaps time changed Scarlett Johansson’s mind about getting married again. If so, congratulations to her and Romain Dauriac on their engagement.
