The U.S. Navy’s rescue of an American captain held captive by pirates has now inspired a video game. Saving Captain Phillips, by online gaming site Games2Win , lets players re-enact the pirate rescue with their own keyboards.

Saving Captain Phillips is a Flash-based adventure available for both free online play and free downloading. It allows players to take shots at the pirates and try to save the captain’s life.
The game itself is simple enough; it’s presumably its tie to the intense real-world event generating most of its buzz. Games2Win isn’t the only developer to try to get in on the action, either: Kuma Games has also released its own pirate rescue game entitled Somali Showdown: Pirates on the High Seas.
