San Diego Comic Con has kicked off for 2016 and already there is plenty of news about the upcoming Marvel ventures on Netflix. Here’s everything we know so far about Marvel’s Luke Cage , Iron Fist , and The Defenders .

First up we have the official San Diego Comic Con Sizzle teaser video presented by Marvel and Netflix. While this video rehashes a lot of what has been previously seen in both Daredevil and Jessica Jones , it splices in new footage of their upcoming Marvel series, Luke Cage . This video was released exclusively at SDCC just before the Marvel panel started.

According to the press release issued by Netflix , fans were also treated to a Comic Con teaser of the Netflix original series Marvel’s Luke Cage . This latest Marvel venture will premiere globally on Netflix on September 30, 2016, at 12:01 a.m. PT. This is the third show in the Defenders series to launch on Netflix, following Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones. It will then lead up to the future release of Marvel’s Iron Fist , and ultimately, Marvel’s The Defenders . You can view the new trailer for Marvel’s Luke Cage below.

The synopsis for Marvel’s Luke Cage is as follows.

“After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

“Mike Colter plays the charismatic lead character, Luke Cage and is joined by Mahershala Ali (Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes), Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Theo Rossi (Shades), Frank Whaley (Rafael Scarfe) and Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple).

“ Marvel’s Luke Cage is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker (SouthLAnd, Ray Donovan) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.”

As well as information on the upcoming Luke Cageseries, Netflix also chose San Diego Comic Con to reveal the logo for their upcoming Marvel’s The Defendersseries. Currently there is no release date for The Defendersyet as Marvel’s Iron Fistwill premiere after Luke Cageand before the final installment of The Defenders. However, we do know that filming is likely to start on The Defenderslater this year and run back to back with the filming of Season 2 of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, according to an interview Krysten Ritter (who plays Jessica Jones) did recently with Digital Spy. In the meantime, you can view the logo revealfor Marvel’s The Defendersin the video below.

Speaking of Iron Fist , although Netflix are promoting the upcoming Luke Cage at San Diego Comic Con this year, they did have time to tease fans with the first poster of Iron Fist which will be premiering in 2017. You can view this poster below.

So far Netflix’s take on the Marvel universe has been well received among fans. Marvel’s Daredevilhas just been renewedfor a third season and Jessica Jones, as reported above, is going into a second season. If these first installments are a reliable meter for future Marvel productions, fans should be pretty happy with Netflix’s upcoming offerings.

2016 marks the 47th year San Diego Comic Con has been held. This makes it the longest-running convention of its kind. San Diego Comic Con runs from Thursday, July 21, to Sunday, July 24, at the San Diego Convention Center.
