Prior to the smartphone’s official market release, the South Korean tech giant rolled out a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge update. It was marked by the phone maker as “urgent.”

GSM Arena’s report about the firmware update made for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge included a screenshot of the pop-up notification, which reads as follows.

“Urgent new software updates are available for your device. Update your software to the latest version to prevent errors from occurring.”

Details surfacing online about the changes brought by the 3.32 MB Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge update were limited, although the notification noted that it is for the Edge screen. Moreover, as cited by Phandroid, a Twitter user with handle @tkdsl8655 who posted about the release of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge update also noted in one of his responses that there is additional app support to the launcher, although there was “nothing earth-shattering.”

Check out his tweets below.

To manually check the availability of the firmware update, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge users can simply navigate to Settings menu, look for the About Device option, and then tap Software update.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will officially hit the shelves today, March 11. A separate report from GSM Arena last month noted that the for the first wave of its worldwide market launch , the 2016 flagship series of Samsung will be released in 60 countries, citing the announcement of Koh Dong-jin, Samsung’s mobile chief. He also noted that they are expecting that the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will exceed the shipments recorded by the Galaxy S6.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edgeis the curved edge screen version of the standard Galaxy S7 model. It has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, according to Samsung’s official website .The display has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, and a pixel density of 534 ppi. Offering an always-on display feature, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The smartphone has IP68 certification, making it water-resistant, even if submerged in up to “5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.” Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is packed with a 3700 mAh battery, and it also supports fast wireless charging. As for the memory, native storage is 32GB capacity, but expansion is possible for up to 200GB via a microSD.

Of course, the camera specs of the 2016 flagship series from Samsung were also improved. The S7 and S7 Edge are the first to have dual pixel technology. It also features a “fast autofocus for less blur and a new advanced sensor for catching details in low light.” Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s primary camera has a 12MP lens sensor, while the selfie shooter has a 5MP sensor.

A review from Android Pit listed the positive points of the S7 Edge, such as excellent quality of the screen, camera focus speed, the Floating Game Tools button, and camera’s wider aperture, allowing for bright photos. Meanwhile, some of the bad points noted about the phone are its mono speaker, as well as not having support for Adoptable Storage. Also, the post noted that the “fingerprint sensor fails in the rain.”

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge also supports other devices from the South Korean company. It can be connected to a Gear VR, Gear S2 smartwatch or the Level On headphones.
