The newest smartphone in the highly successful Samsung Galaxy family of devices is rumored to debut March 14, according to The Verge . Samsung plans to unveil at least one new device on that day, with the Galaxy S4 being the most likely candidate, according to sources familiar with the company.
The hardware design is said to mimic the Galaxy Note 8 , which is expected to be announced later this month. Boy Genius Report notes that leaked Verizon benchmark test results on a mysterious device bearing a similar model number to past Samsung Galaxy devices could be the Galaxy S4. If this is true, the phone will sport a 1920×1080 HD display, a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, and Android Jelly Bean. Earlier rumors indicated that the device may feature a new flexible, highly-durable screen technology , which could also serve to lower screen manufacturing costs.
The Samsung Galaxy line of devices is arguably the most successful collective application of Google’s Android mobile operating system to date. Samsung reportedly dominates Android market share globally, with 42.5% of all Android devices coming from the Korean electronics company. An estimated 64.5 million of the 140 million Android devices that shipped in the fourth quarter of 2012 were Samsung products.
Even as Samsung leads the way in Android device sales, the company is looking to other options for its future products.
