Deadpool fans have anticipated news on an official movie and left hungering for more after footage was supposedly leaked online . Despite the buzz that echoed across the Internet, only hints of the film’s status could be glimpsed from time to time. However, a tweet by Ryan Reynolds proclaiming “It’s chimichanga time” has revealed that the 2016 projected release is still on target with him playing the lead role.

Ryan Reynolds played Wade Wilson, Deadpool’s real name, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. His character was a wise cracking mercenary that became part of the same Weapon X program that Wolverine was inducted into. Rather than adamantium laced bones, he gained a super healing ability to accompany his sarcastic attitude and already deadly fighting skills. Ryan Reynolds will reprise the role in the guise of Deadpool in the upcoming movie that is scheduled to be released in February of 2016, according to IGN .

Deadpool will be directed by Tim Miller and the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Rob Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, is excited to see the movie progressing and has been since the leaked footage was released, according to Nerdbastards .

“I absolutely believe that the leaked footage served as one of those signature moments when fandom united across all social media platforms and made their voices heard. Can you imagine if the masses had disapproved of the footage? In this ruthless take down culture … it could have been ugly. Fortunately for all involved, it broke on the overwhelmingly positive side. It was a tidal wave of unbridled enthusiasm.”

Twitter post from Ryan Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is thought to be a perfect marriage for the role. The combination of sass, craziness, and blatant disregard for rules is a role that Reynolds has perfected throughout his career. The revealing tweet gives just enough information to imagine that the movie has either started or will start soon, leaving fans hoping he will sneak a few more tweets as the movie progresses. If the entire movie is anything like the test footage, it is sure to be a wild ride that surpasses the PG-13 feel that Marvel and Disney provided in the Guardians of the Galaxy, showing off the grittier side of the Marvel Universe.

The plot of Deadpool is still unknown, as is the villain of the anti-hero mercenary. Who would you like to see Deadpool go up against?
