While FM radio capabilities have been witnessed on Motorola Android 2 teardowns, the actual capability was removed when stock devices were released to the public. Now thanks to some enterprising folks at XDA-Developers forums you can use a rooted handset and a bunch of files to re-enable the option.
It should be noted that some users have had issues with the upgrade, requiring additional commands to be entered to resolve those issues, you’ll also need to use a dedicated app to access the FM radio function once you’ve completed the upgrade.
According to Electronista :
The files are said to be a combination of content already programmed into the Droid 2 OS, along with a few from Motorola’s Droid X. The latter device already offers FM functionality in its stock form, without requiring any further tweaks.
Just beware, you could severely mess up your Droid 2 if you don’t follow directions exactly as written, even then there are no guarantees.
