Ridley Scott Says ‘Prometheus 2’ Won’t Feature Xenomorphs

Fans of the Alien franchise may have bemoaned the lack of xenomorphs in the quasi-prequel Prometheus , yet according to Ridley Scott, they shouldn’t expect to see them in the next film either.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies about his current film, Exodus: Gods And Kings , which stars Christian Bale and tells the story of Moses, Scott addressed some of the projects in his future. Among those is a sequel to Prometheus , which was released in 2012. According to Scott, the second film is well on its way to production with a script already in the works.

“Right now, as we speak, it’s being written,” Scott said. “I’ve had 15 drafts evolving. I definitely want to do that again because I really enjoyed doing ‘ Prometheus ‘.”

20th Century Fox has previously announced an unspecified Ridley Scott feature for a 2016 release, which is believed to be Prometheus 2 , as The Inquisitr has reported. While many fans have expressed hope that Prometheus 2 will feature far more of the alien xenomorphs, which were largely absent from the first film, it appears they are going to be disappointed.

“The beast is done. Cooked,” Scott asserted. “I got lucky meeting Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it and I said, ‘I want to do it, it’s fantastic’. But after four, I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.”

In addition to Prometheus 2 , the director is also working on pre-production for an adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel The Martian , set to star Matt Damon, according to A.V. Club . Scott also revealed he has recently met with Harrison Ford to discuss a sequel to Blade Runner . Their meeting, it turns out, happened the night before Ford’s high-profile accident on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII .

“It’s on the charts,” Scott said of Blade Runner 2 . “I can’t say when that would be yet, because of [Ford’s] thing with ‘ Star Wars ‘. It’s a sequel – it’s what happens next. It’s quite surprisingly clever.”

With Exodus: Gods And Kings hitting theaters December 26th and his other projects in the works, it will be some time before Ridley Scott will be revealing Prometheus 2 .
