RFK Jr. Slams Fox News For Dividing Americans To Push Corporate Interests

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., son of the late Robert F. Kennedy, has spoken out about the influence of Fox News on the American political landscape, and the environmental advocate didn’t mince words on the effects such a slant has on uninformed viewers.

RFK Jr. made the remarks about Fox News during a HuffPost Live interview with host Josh Zepps Friday, noting that “big money” pushing an agenda of profit has allowed “right wing control of the American media, starting with Fox News.” Kennedy, an attorney who focuses on environmental law, spoke about fracking and the political concerns stemming from corporate interests influencing public opinion with a tainted set of facts — pointing to Fox News as a negative influence on political dialogue.

In his interview with HuffPo, RFK Jr. explains a growing number of Americans use Fox News to entirely or almost entirely inform their positions on certain political issues — allowing for interests to pollute the media cycle with closely vetted talking points and stories framed to protect wealthy lobbies.

He explains that such a dialogue has created a historically significant ideological divide in the US, and says:

“Twenty-two percent of Americans say their primary news source is Fox News … It’s divided our country in a way that we haven’t been divided probably since the Civil War, and its empowered large corporations to get certain kinds of politicians and ideologues who are in the United State Congress elected — the Tea Party ideologues who control the Republican Party.”
