Red Robin Introduces Sam Adams Octoberfest Milkshake

Red Robin has earned the title of real American heros this week, taking a moderate culinary trend — the beer milkshake — and bringing it to diners in the US the country over in a new menu item, the Sam Adams Octoberfest milkshake.

Beer milkshakes like the one seen at Red Robin may seem like an abomination to some beer buffs, but the recipe is not an entirely unknown one. Back in the mid-noughties, a restaurant in Brooklyn called Schnack had a beer milkshake that was pretty well regarded in the borough, winning over skeptics who felt that beer and ice cream should never mix — at least directly.

But Red Robin is thrusting the beer milkshake to national prominence, marrying a popular Sam Adams draught with milkshake and piquing beer fans and ice cream loving boozers. Of the Sam Adams milkshake that is bringing all the boys to Red Robin, the chain’s master mixologist Donna Ruch says :

“Nothing says Oktoberfest better than a beer, so I incorporated the fun spirit of Red Robin into this innovative milkshake.”

Ruch continues:

“Now, our guests don’t have to choose between a beer or a shake to go with their burger. They can have the very best of both in our new Octoberfest Milkshake.”

Beer milkshakes aren’t the only thing Red Robin is doing to promote everyone’s favorite frothy, alcoholic libation in the traditionally beer-oriented month of October.

In addition to the Sam Adams Octoberfest milkshake, Red Robin has also added warm pretzel bites with beer cheese and beer mustard for dipping, as well as the Red Robin Oktoberfest burger on a toasted pretzel bun with beer mustard, melted Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, ham and lettuce.

Would you try the Sam Adams Octoberfest beer milkshake?
