Saturday Night Live veteran Rob Schneider, 52, is getting his own show on Netflix!

As UPROXX reported, the trailer for Schneider’s new show entitled Real Rob was just released. According to reports, the new series centers around Rob’s real life while living in Hollywood. Real Rob also stars his real life wife, TV producer Patricia Schneider, and other members of his family. Other familiar faces that will be appearing in the new Netflix series include George Lopez, Norm MacDonald, and David Spade, who are all Rob Schneider’s real life friends.

Rob Schneider started his career as a stand-up comic while he was still in high school. After his high school education, he continued his gig of being a comedian by performing at nightclubs and cafes. His career was boosted after gaining a slot at HBO’s 13th Annual Young Comedians special. From there, he was able to secure a spot as a writer for Saturday Night Live .

With Rob’s quick wit and acting abilities, his position on Saturday Night Live as a writer was elevated, and he was soon part of the regular cast. He was on the show from 1990 to 1994, portraying roles such as Orgasm Guy and Tiny Elvis. Rob Schneider was also known as one of the “Bad Boys” of Saturday Night Live with other comedians including Chris Farley, David Spade, Adam Sandler, and Chris Rock.

Rob Schneider is perhaps more known for appearing in several films with Adam Sandler after his gig was over on Saturday Night Live . He appeared in a number of films, including The Waterboy , Big Daddy , Little Nicky , Mr. Deeds , 50 First Dates , and Don’t Mess with the Zohan , among others.

For Real Rob , Schneider and his wife Patricia wrote the script for the show, alongside one of their co-stars, Jamie Lissow. According to the actor, having a third person was important, as he would often “ butt heads ” with his wife, according to Entertainment Weekly .

“My wife and I can’t write together. She has a particular way of looking at thing, as I do. We butt heads over things. When there’s a third person there, it kind of neutralizes that.”

Despite having disagreements with his wife, Rob Schneider says that Real Robis “a labor of love,” as he thinks that Patricia agreed to do the show because of him, and he did it because of her. Patricia, who has no acting background, and is used to being behind-the-scenes as a producer, was taught by Rob for three months to be comfortable in front of the camera.

Real Rob is inspired by real events that happened in Rob’s life, but the events in the series are, of course, exaggerated for entertainment purposes. As stated on Schneider’s website , “The scripted series is an exaggerated yet brutally honest depiction of Schneider’s real life.” Schneider even admits that he is similar to his character in Real Rob in the sense that he “can be” a jerk, but that being a jerk on-screen is sometimes more entertaining.

“Somebody trying to show themselves in a really great light is boring. I think the characters that have problems are the ones that are much more interesting. That’s what I want to watch.”
