The Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King Edmonds has dyed her hair pink in honor of her stepdaughter’s late mother, LeAnn Horton-Edmonds. Last week, Edmonds’ husband’s first wife passed away after a long battle with cancer, and days later, Edmonds made her drastic hair change.
“Life is short,” Edmonds revealed to Huffington Post Live , via Us Weekly , of her decision to dye her hair pink on July 27.
“My whole attitude was ‘Life is short, and I want to celebrate her life. I’m going to do it because I can!’ It’s pink because… carpe diem.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, The Real Housewives of Orange County’s loss was first announced last week on Instagram by her stepdaughter, 17-year-old Haley. In an emotional post, Haley told her fans and followers of the heartache she felt because of her mother’s tragic death .
“There’s a lot of pain I have for my stepdaughters — they’re going to have to navigate life without their mom,” the Real Housewives of Orange County star continued to Huffington Post Live . “We’re just picking up the pieces and going on with the life we now know.”
In addition to Haley, LeAnn was mother to three more children, and while they are all surely in a dire state at the moment, Edmonds said Haley was taking the loss the hardest.
“It’s been less than a week, and throughout the stages of grief, there’s a lot of anger and sadness. With Hayley and I, we talk all the time, but now it’s difficult – she just lost her mom.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County star married Jim Edmonds just last year, but already, she claims to have played a major part in raising the girls, and according to her interview with Huffington Post Live , she has LeAnn’s blessing in continuing to do so.
“I’m not trying to replace anyone — I’m in the stepmom role, and I just have to figure out what that’s going to be. LeAnn and I were always in close contact about the girls. She loved me and she loved the role I played while she was alive, and she felt comfortable with me being in the girls’ lives moving forward.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County star is new to the Bravo series this year.
