When averaging ratings for each night at Showbuzz Daily for last week, Trevor Noah averaged a poor, but not disastrous, 856,000 viewers a night. Though Noah obviously doesn’t like the Jon Stewart comparisons, it’s obvious that he is turning advertisers for the show since the ratings have dropped a lot.
Trevor Noah is doing everything he can to save The Daily Show . It will be interesting to see what he has to say Tuesday night, especially after tweeting about Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West.
Kendrick Lamar thrilled the audience at the Grammy Awards last evening as he walked on stage in a human chain while his band performed inside mock jails for the song “The Blacker the Berry.” On the other hand, Kanye West has been the subject of a lot of bad press lately for making misogynistic comments about Taylor Swift and asking for $53 million from Silicon Valley . You can bet Trevor Noah will have a lot to say Tuesday evening about Kanye West.
Meanwhile, talk radio station 89.3 KPCCrecently wrote an article about why Trevor Noah still hasn’t found his groove.
“But four months into Trevor Noah’s tenure, his ratings have dropped more steeply than expected, and they have yet to climb back anywhere near the ratings of ‘The Daily Show’ of old,” claimed John Horn, who adds that even the election cycle hasn’t helped Trevor Noah and the show find its way into the center of the cultural conversation.
Slate thinks they have the reason why Americans are ignoring Trevor Noah and use his coverage of Flint, Michigan, as an example.
“But next to Wilmore’s take on Flint, Noah’s was distant. Even when talking about something as outrageous as what happened in Flint, Noah tends to seem remote and jokey, rather than genuinely curious.”
However, many people on Twitter think that Trevor Noah is showing improvement.

Salon , a site that has heavily criticized Noah before, recently noted that he was getting better as well and loved his takedown of Ted Cruz.
“Last night on ‘The Daily Show,’ audiences got to see two things. First, the Cruz-is-worse-than-Trump notion has been ratified by a great comic bit. And, Trevor Noah is now showing he can do politics as well as anyone on late night. At least, when he’s on, as he was Monday night,” wrote Scott Timberg.
Many of the comments after the article, for once, were positive about Noah.
“Trevor Noah is funny! All politicians must be skewered from all angles even the old guy,” Kakolater claimed.
“I like Trevor. He’s doing alright in my opinion, and he’s got a ways to go before he really hits his own stride. After all, the people who don’t like Trevor Noah are probably the same ones who criticized Jon Stewart all those years ago,” Sarahgr said.
Let’s hope Trevor Noah keeps improving and finds an audience. It would be embarrassing for Noah if he was kicked off the air just after one year.
