Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, better known as Rapper YG, was reportedly shot three times on the hips by an unknown gunman. According to Rolling Stone , the rapper was shot at around 1:45 a.m. local time at Studio City, and was driven by a friend to a nearby hospital shortly after. A KTLA report citing Sgt. Ernie Fischer from the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the incident happened in an alleyway outside 3450 Cahuenga Boulevard West in Studio City.

The report added that Rapper YG did not suffer any life-threatening injuries in the shooting and that he is reportedly out of danger. Meanwhile, a TMZ report said that YG was “very uncooperative” with police officials when they tried to interview him about the causes that led to the shooting incident. Meanwhile, authorities also received a phone call from a local hospital that reported about a victim who arrived there with gunshot wounds. This was confirmed by Officer Richter of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Law enforcement agencies responding to the report of the shooting reportedly found several shell casings and blood on the sidewalk where Rapper YG was reportedly shot. The identity of the gunman who pulled the trigger remains unknown in the preliminary stages of the investigation. Meanwhile, TMZ , which has reportedly spoken to Rapper YG’s representatives, did not divulge as to what happened at the time of the shooting. The representative did, however, confirm that YG’s injuries are “not life threatening” and that he is “doing fine”.

Born in 1990, the 25-year-old Rapper YG released his first single “Toot It And Boot It” in 2009. Featuring Ty Dolla Sign, the single managed to climb up the BillBoard Hot 100 charts and peak at number 67. Following its success, YG went on to sign up for Def Jam Recordings. Last year, YG released his first studio album titled “My Krazy Life.” The album, which dealt with gang life in South Central Los Angeles, earned him nationwide acclaim. He later went on to co-write a screenplay with director Darryl “Lucky” Rodgers.

Meanwhile, police officers are still investigating the case. No one has been taken into custody so far. Incidentally, this is not the first time that a shooting incident has taken place at a location where Rapper YG was present. In January 2012, shots were fired during the filming of YG’s music video “I’m a Thug”
