Qualcomm Debuts Dual-Core Snapdragon Processor

The Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs was previewed today and features processors based on the MSM8x60 processor built with 45nm processing standards.

The new platform offers two Scorpion cores that run at 1.2GHz, while graphics are accelerated for mobile devices using the Adreno GPU.

According to Qualcomm the chipset will come with two variants, one for GSM, UMTS and HSPA+ connections and one for CMDA, EVDO Rev. o, Rev. A and Rev. B based carriers, pretty basic fair for mobile hardware.

Along with multiple network support the new chipset also supports stereoscopic 3D that can be streamed in HD to TV’s that support HDMI inputs, video conferencing for multiple users and significant power savings for “normal tasks” whatever those may be.

There is still no time frame for the dual-core processors release. [via AnandTech ]
