World-renowned psychic Sylvia Browne has died at age 77.

A message posted to Browne’s Facebook page said that she died at 7:10 am at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. Her son, Chris, confirmed the death to TMZ , adding that his mother was surrounded by friends and family when she passed away.

“For nearly six decades, Sylvia Browne dedicated her life to helping others as a spiritual guide through private readings, past-life regressions and prayer groups that spanned the globe,” the message on Browne’s Facebook page read. “Having been called upon to assist individuals, families, and law enforcement agencies across the U.S. and Canada on criminal investigations, she worked tirelessly as an advocate for justice, receiving several commendations for the positive impact her contributions provided.”

Montel Willams, whose show Browne appeared on regularly, extended his condolences to her family.

“I, like so many of you, lost a friend today,” he said. “But, as has been for the last twenty years, she’ll always remain a part of me. My thoughts and prayers go out to Sylvia’s family in this time of loss.”

Sylvia Browne made headlines earlier this year after Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight were rescued from the Cleveland, Ohio, home of Ariel Castro . Berry’s 6-year-old daughter, fathered by Castro, was also rescued from the home.

Amanda Berry went mission on April 21, 2003, one day before her 17th birthday. Nineteen months later, Browne told Berry’s mother, Louwana Miller, that her daughter was dead. Miller died in 2006 of heart failure; Berry was found on May 6 of this year.

Browne wrote on her Facebook page after Amanda Berry and the others were found:

“For more than 50 years as a spiritual psychic and guide, when called upon to either help authorities with missing person cases or to help families with questions about their loved ones, I have been more right than wrong. If ever there was a time to be grateful and relieved for being mistaken, this is that time. Only God is right all the time. My heart goes out to Amanda Berry, her family, the other victims and their families. I wish you a peaceful recovery.”

The cause of Sylvia Browne’s death has yet to be revealed. She is survived by her husband, Michael Ulery, sons Christopher and Paul Dufresne, sister Sharon Bortolussi, and three grandchildren.
