Pope Francis has a great plan to try and improve the Catholic Church’s media image, and he wants to recruit Oprah Winfrey, Matt Damon, and Ari Emanuel to help him in his plight.

According to the Hollywood Reporter , Pope Francis has invited the trio, as well as producer Brian Grazer and David Geffen, the founder of Geffen Records, to the Vatican for a special audience where they will then discuss how they can improve the depiction of the Catholic Church in media. This meeting will take place in just a few months time, at some point in fall.

Ari Emanuel, who is the brother of Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and the main influence for the character of Ari Gold in Entourage , is a William Morris Endeavor super agent, while Matt Damon has previously appeared in The Bourne Identity , and Oprah Winfrey is, well, simply Oprah Winfrey.

The Hollywood Reporter have alleged that the pontiff wants to discuss how the church is currently being perceived by some of the most important people in Western media. They will then discuss a variety of ways that they can improve this perception. The list of names was amalgamated between the Vatican and Varkey Foundation, a nonprofit.

It’s actually quite surprising that Pope Francis is going to such lengths to try and work with several elite members of Hollywood. That’s because back in May, Pope Francis admitted to an Argentinian newspaper, via the Daily Mail, that he hadn’t actually watched TV in the last quarter of a decade.

“It’s a promise that I made [to] the Virgin of Carmen on the night of July 15, 1990. I told myself: ‘It’s not for me,’” Francis explained to La Vos Pueblo.

However, he does actually have previous mixing it withe some of Hollywood’s biggest and most renowned individuals. Earlier this year, Angelina Jolie held a screening of the film she directed, Unbroken, at the Vatican. The pair then even had a discussion about the project, which revolved around the life of Louis Zamperini, an American Olympian and a World War II hero too.

Those who have been linked to the Pope’s planned media meeting are yet to confirm if they’re actually going to attend.
