PlayStation 4 Looks Like It’s Getting ‘Titanfall 2’

The PlayStation 4 might be on the cusp of taking away a title that had been synonymous with Microsoft until very recently. While Titanfall had only been offered on the Xbox One and Xbox 360, it appears the PlayStation 4 will have a crack at Titanfall 2 . While Titanfall has fallen in popularity since its release in the spring of 2014, there will no doubt be a demand for Titanfall 2 , especially from PlayStation 4 gamers who never got the chance to strap in and shoot giant robots roaming the land.

Rumors have actually been running rampant since this summer that the PlayStation 4 would be a platform the next Titanfall game was offered on, but now Electronic Arts seems to finally be confirming that talk. “Last year it was on the Xbox only,” said Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen according to Sixth Axis , “In the future, we haven’t yet announced, but we’ll probably have another Titanfall game. It will probably be a bigger footprint than just a single platform. I think that’s a huge positive for us.”

Jorgensen didn’t specifically address the PlayStation 4 but drawing those comments out to their logical conclusion has Titanfall 2 making an appearance on the PS4. EA’s CFO was making an appearance at the 2015 Technology, Internet & Media Conference where he also divulged that Electronic Arts wants to make just one FPS per year. That means that PlayStation 4 fans who were hoping to get their hands on Titanfall 2 will likely be waiting at least a couple of years.

The newest iteration of Titanfall , which is admittedly not even in development yet is going to take a backseat to Battlefield Hardline this year and Battlefield 5 in 2016. That means the earliest Titanfall 2 would hit the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One would be 2017. That would be quite a wait indeed for the next Titanfall , since Gamespot reports Titanfall 2 was actually greenlit last year. It seems the strong launch of the original Titanfall has convinced Respawn and EA that another Titanfall would make the companies plenty of revenue.

Titanfall revenues would of course be aided by the fact that it was available on the PlayStation 4. In fact the existence on that console would almost assuredly mean it would also be playable using remote play and the PS Vita. That would mean that Titanfall fans could play Titanfall 2 on the go. A kind of mobile version of Titanfall might help to keep interest surrounding the Mech driving and shooting game going. That is another reason why it would be a good idea to offer the title on the PlayStation 4.
