It’s official: Planet Hulk is not happening, and Marvel head Kevin Feige and director James Gunn have come out to shoot the rumors down once more. Despite Joss Whedon having already denied the film being planned, fans have continued to speculate that Avengers will tie in with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy through the film.
The facts are that some of the creatures from the named planet are expected to be in Guardians , but the planet itself won’t be visited and Hulk won’t be a member of the other team. Look at the technology being used and you’ll notice that Guardians takes place in a time when everything is far more advanced than it is in the Avengers franchise. The creatures from Planet Hulk are all that’s being used, and that’s where the connection supposedly ends.
Kevin Feige stated about the persistent rumors:
“There are no plans for ‘Planet Hulk’ anytime soon. I think what’s cool about the ‘Planet Hulk’ story is it’s all Hulk. He’s a gladiator, he’s fighting all these creatures on another world. Yes, some of those creatures show up in (‘Guardians of the Galaxy’), which makes people think, ‘Oh, maybe it could exist.’ And maybe it could exist, someday. I don’t think that’s the first place we would go though for the very reason that you stated, which is, if we were ever able to do a standalone Hulk movie, 60 percent of the fun would be seeing Mark Ruffalo leading a Marvel movie — and that’s what we would do if we ever went down that road.”
The possibility of another standalone Hulk movie is still there, but unless Mark Ruffalo plays a major role, even Guardians director James Gunn says it’s not going to happen.

Gunn’s actual words on the Planet Hulk rumors were:
“It is absolute … bullsh*t. It feels like a great relief to finally say this after all the dumb stuff on the Internet. There’s not going to be a ‘Planet Hulk’ movie, there was never going to be a ‘Planet Hulk’ movie, there was never a plan for the Hulk to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy – I wouldn’t want the Hulk to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy! And it’s all a bunch of complete bullsh*t.”
Avengers director Joss Whedon , Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, Marvel president Kevin Feige, and even Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo have all debunked the existence of the movie, and the idea of Hulk in space isn’t happening either.
All of the main players involved in the possible film have shot it down, and the fans will have to deal with it and let the Planet Hulk rumors die. It’s not happening.
