Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani are going to hit the stage for a rare performance. The special occasion is People magazine’s very first award show. The performance will take place this Thursday, and it will be the second time outside of their show, The Voice , that the two have performed together. The first being at Z100’s Jingle Ball this past weekend in New York City.

According to People , the two will perform their new single together, “Spark the Fire,” which is being billed as Stefani’s new single with Williams featuring. They’re not alone in hitting the stage. Joining Pharrell Williams for their own separate sets are Maroon 5 and 5 Seconds of Summer.

The awards will be a two-hour event, with People promising it will be a star-studded spectacle like all the other award shows. So what are the People Magazine Awards, exactly? Well, it’s the magazine’s way of celebrating pop culture. The magazine will get help from a roster that reads like a who’s who, as they’re joined by Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm, Kate Upton, Jennifer Lopez, Josh Groban, Michael Keaton, Mindy Kaling, Chloe Grace Moretz, Josh Gad, Chris Messina, Ryan Guzman, and Diane Guerrero, with Nick Cannon acting as host.

As for Pharrell Williams new song with Gwen, the “Happy” singer and producer gives Stefani all the credit due to the song’s support of feminism. During an interview with Radio.com , Williams opened up about what he thinks is the driving force behind their new single “Spark the Fire.”

“What’s really the coolest part of the whole thing, the sound and the direction we really worked hard on, but lyrically what she sang on that song about feminism, and women standing up for themselves and standing together. Part of the problem with feminism is not just the men but some certain women pull other women down. When we see the unity that Gwen is promoting there, it’s a rebellious unity, but it’s a positive one.”

This isn’t the only time Williams has talked about empowering women. In an interview with Stylist , Pharrell said, “I’m just saying we need to give women a chance to do it. But it starts with women. I swear 2014 is the year where everything changes.”
