Nearly two weeks ago the Inquisitr reported that Petr Cech was almost certain to join English Premier League club Arsenal, leaving behind the team he played with for 11 years, Chelsea.

Today, Cech made it official, as he has announced that he will be joining up with the Gunners.

Cech penned this personal letter to Chelsea fans, thanking them for the support during his decade long stint, via his Twitter account.

The 33-year-old keeper is considered to be one of the greatest of his generation, perhaps only second to Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon. Since the 2004-05 campaign, Cech has made over 400 appearances at Stamford Bridge , according to Arsenal .

Cech suffered a depressed skull fracture in 2006 for Chelsea while challenging a ball in the penalty area, and ever since, he has been known for wearing protective head gear in order to avoid concussions. The head injury nearly cost him his life, per The Chels .

Petr received the award for Best Goalkeeper during the 2004-05, 2005-06, and 2006-07 seasons of the UEFA Champions League.

During international play, Cech represents Czech Republic, where he holds the record with 114 caps.

Here are some reactions to Petr’s signing with his new team.

Was this the right move for Cech and Arsenal? Do you feel Petr still has many solid years ahead of him?
