Paul McCartney teamed up with the remaining members of Nirvana this weekend to play a few songs at his concert in Seattle.

McCartney ran through his catalog of hits at Safeco Field before being joined on stage by Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. The Beatles singer stood in for Kurt Cobain as Nirvana played a few more Beatles song and one original tune.

According to Rolling Stone, Grohl, Novoselic, Smear and McCartney played “Get Back,” “Long Tail Sally,” and “Helter Skelter” from the Beatles catalog. The band also played “Cut Me Some Slack,” an original song that the group debuted at the 12-12-12 benefit rally last year. The band did not play any Nirvana songs but they did close the set by playing “The End.”

McCartney hasn’t commented on the Nirvana reunion yet but Krist Novoselic thanked the legendary rocker for creating another opportunity for a Nirvana reunion.

Novoselic writes: “Thank you @PaulMcCartney for a great show and for having us play with you all.”

There have been rumors of a Nirvana tour floating around ever since Paul McCartney joined the band at the 12-12-12 benefit last year. Paul and Grohl are both pretty busy with their own projects so that may not be happening . But hopefully we can get one or two more of those mini concerts.
