Pastor’s Poignantly Hilarious Relationship Advice Has Even Atheists Nodding Approval

Biblical relationship advice is probably the last thing that you would expect to see turn up on the front pages of Reddit , but one pastor’s bravery has the popular website buzzing.

It can be challenging for clergymen to find new and interesting ways to communicate messages from the same book for thousands of years, but I think this guy managed to pull it off. Unfortunately, the Reddit thread only had the image, so it’s hard to tell which branch of Christianity this guy belongs to. Also, there isn’t a name for attribution or even any indication that he’s the guy who came up with this.

In fact, he’s likely not. If you do a bit of internet research, you can see that other websites, like this one at Go Fish Ministries, Inc. , have posted it before, though they admit they have “no idea” who came up with it either.

That doesn’t matter. What’s unique about the image above is that the pastor actually used it in an assembly. Not something that’s very commonplace, particularly among Protestant faiths.

If you’re having difficulty reading the relationship advice in the image above, here is the full text.

“To all the girls who are in a hurry to have a boyfriend or get married, a piece of Biblical advice: ‘Ruth patiently waited for her mate Boaz.’ While you are waiting on YOUR Boaz, don’t settle for any of his relatives: Broke-az, Lyin-az, Cheatin-az, Dumb-az, Drunk-az, Cheap-az, Lockedup-az, Goodfornothingaz, Lazyaz and especially his third cousin Beatinyouaz. Wait on your Boaz and make sure he respects Yoaz!”

Again, while Christians may have seen this turn up before, it is seldom that it gets this much notoriety on Reddit, and it’s even won the respect of some atheists on the site.

According to one commenter professing atheism , “Was getting my atheist flag all ready to plant on the nearest soapbox and get offended, but this is f***ing hilarious…. Good for him, humor, a good message, playing to his audience, not pandering.”

What do you think about this bit of relationship advice from the pastor? Do you think churches could stand to be a bit more acerbic in their approach to delivering messages? Sound off in the comments section.
