An online teacher threat involving a specific school employee and the mention of a gun has resulted in the arrest of a Michigan teen on charges of terrorism.

The online teacher threat arrest involved a 16-year-old Fraser High School student, a male, who was not identified in the media due to the fact he is a juvenile.

Reports about the online teacher threat in Waterloo Township, Michigan indicate that the student was charged Thursday after the threat was discovered, and ClickOnDetroit reports:

“The arrest comes amid increased attention to threats in Michigan and elsewhere following last week’s Connecticut school massacre… Thursday a 16-year-old Fraser High School student was charged with making a false threat of terrorism after he told classmates he would bring a gun to school.”

Details about where online the threats were made and how the online teacher threat was discovered were not disclosed to press following the student’s arrest and presumed arraignment.

A video addendum to the post indicates that the student has been charged with a felony for the online teacher threat, and that the student involved faces 20 years in jail. The site also indicates the juvenile in question has a prior arrest record.

According to the local news source, several Michigan schools officially closed due to what appears to be myriad threats, but that Frasier High School was not one of the institutions opting to close.

Bond for the Michigan student after the online teacher threat was denied by a judge, and the case is being handled in juvenile court in the jurisdiction.
