Olivia Wilde was photographed breastfeeding while posing for high-fashion photos in the September issue of Glamour magazine. The 30-year-old actress is shown in the magazine along with son Otis in a classic diner booth. Wilde wears a metallic Roberto Cavalli feathered dress and sky-high Prada shoes with a magenta Prada scarf.
Us Weekly notes that Wilde stated of the photo shoot , “Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn’t complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that.” Of the decision to breastfeed in the cover photo, the actress commented, “Breastfeeding is the most natural thing.”
While the photo will inevitably be controversial, Olivia Wilde didn’t seem to mind. She explained, “I don’t know. Now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we’ve been discussing – that we know we can be. You can be someone who is at once maternal and processional and sexy and self-possessed.”
The actress also admitted that she doesn’t always look like that photo while breastfeeding son Otis. E! Online notes that Olivia confessed , “I don’t really look like that when I’m [typically] breastfeeding. And there’s usually a diaper involved.”
Olivia Wilde’s main focus since April 20 has been motherhood, though she’ll soon return to work on her new HBO series with Martin Scorsese. She explained that becoming a mother hasn’t dampened her ambition as an actress, “My mom is such a badass working mother. that inspired me when I was pregnant. I wasn’t going to sacrifice myself because I was becoming a mother.”
The actress added that she and fiance Jason Sudeikis will get married, but they aren’t sure when. She told Glamour , “We’re engaged, but no specific plans yet – we just have to find the time to put it together. In many ways, a child is more of a commitment.” Wilde added, “We are fully committed and really happy as a family.”
Wilde also noted that her previous marriage to Tao Ruspoli isn’t affecting her wedding plans with Sudeikis. She explained that she “wouldn’t be this person without that first marriage. I really grew up with my first husband.” Olivia Wilde was just 19 when she and Ruspoli married. The couple announced their separation in February 2011 and their divorce was finalized in October 2011.
For now, Olivia Wilde is content to breastfeed son Otis and focus on motherhood.
