Nicole Scherzinger opened up about ex-boyfriend Lewis Hamilton’s recent attempt to win her back.
The Formula 1 driver dedicated his recent victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix to the X Factor UK judge, whom he split from earlier this year due to their busy schedules.
Hamilton said, “I feel like, the thought on my mind through the entire race was of someone really special to me. And I want to dedicate it to her.”
Scherzinger told The Sun that, despite Hamilton’s attempts to get her back, things are over between them .
“The truth is we’re no longer together. It is over,” she said. “I know he’s been very public about trying to get me back, but we’re still not together.”
The former Pussycat Dolls lead singer also said the race dedication was “sweet,” but wouldn’t change the fact that they were no longer together.
“It was sweet of him. I don’t like to take credit for things. I like to stay in the background but it’s nice to be acknowledged and to know that someone realizes the support that they had,” she said. “I don’t know what the future holds to be honest, but as it stands we’re not together.”
Earlier this month, it was reported that Hamilton and Scherzinger had gotten back together after breaking up in July. The former couple reportedly spent five days talking about their future together at Scherzinger’s Beverly Hills mansion. But two weeks later, it appears that the attempt to work things out was in vain.
Back in June, Hamilton hinted that he was planning to ask Scherzinger to marry him .
“We’ve been together for five years, which is quite a milestone really … But hopefully in the near future,” Hamilton said. “Maybe before we get to six years.”
Nicole Scherzinger recently admitted that she was struggling with the breakup, saying she was trying to keep it together for her work.
“I’m just like every other woman, I’ve had a blanket of tissues over me many a night. Ordered a random, ginormous pizza for myself,” she said. “I definitely have my dark moments but I wanna be a light. That’s what I strive to be. And really, it’s a choice. And sometimes, when you’re sad, you bring the pizza and you make that choice.”
