Nicole Kidman wants to have another baby, and isn’t letting her age get in the way.
This week, the 47-year-old actress revealed that she and husband Keith Urban are trying for a baby .
“I hope every month that I’m pregnant,” Kidman told Australia’s KIIS 106.5, “but I never am. I would be jumping for joy if it happens.”
But Kidman added that she’s realistic about her chances of getting pregnant again later in life.
“I’m 47, it won’t happen,” she said.
Kidman already has two older kids — 19-year-old Connor and 21-year-old Isabella — who she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise. She and Keith Urban also have two little ones, 6-year-old Sunday and 3-year-old Faith, who was born via a surrogate in 2011.
But the interview with the Australian outlet highlighted a bit of hope for Kidman. When host Jackie O shared a story about a friend getting pregnant at 49, Nicole revealed that fertility runs in her own family as well.
“That’s incredible, what a fabulous thing. My grandmother had her last baby at 49 so you never know,” she said. “I’m baby crazy. I love babies… kids, they are just extraordinary.”
Kidman added that she’s not sure how much Keith Urban would love returning to diaper duty.
“He might not be jumping for joy,” she said with a laugh.
It’s been a difficult few weeks for Nicole Kidman and her family. She just lost her father Antony Kidman , a respected Sydney doctor, who suffered a fall in a Singapore hotel room while visiting his daughter.
But there is some good news on the baby front, as Kidman isn’t the only actress who would have welcomed a baby later in life. Last year, fellow 47-year-old actress Halle Berry announced that she and husband Olivier Martinez were expecting a baby. Son Maceo was born early this year.
“Only her prayers could have done this,” the actress told Ellen DeGeneres. “I didn’t think it was possible at my age, honestly. They call it a geriatric pregnancy.”
So there could still be hope for Nicole Kidman and her dreams of getting pregnant again.
