Earlier this month, multiple news sites reported that Niagara Falls, located on the border of the U.S. and Canada, had done something that could only have been possible thanks to the intense cold front the northeast U.S. is experiencing right now. Niagara Falls has frozen over. The truth of the matter is that pictures reported in said news sites makes it seem as if Niagara Falls has frozen over, but the Inquisitr was able to confirm that the falls, though presently cold as heck, were not frozen .

It should be known that even though Niagara Falls is not frozen over, parts of it are encased in ice, thus drawing visitors to see how it looks like now. For those who are unable to make the trek to see the rare occurrence, NBC News provided a drone video showing Niagara Falls from a bird’s eye view.

According to the description provided for the video on the official YouTube channel for NBC News , the ice encasing parts of Niagara Falls isn’t expected to melt until May. To truly capture the majesty of this rare occurrence, a drone was launched up into the are to record the falls. As seen from the video attached above, Niagara Falls is still flowing freely, as proven by the constant mist rising from the water’s splash. However, many parts of the falls itself seems to be embedded in ice and snow. These were the parts photographers took that news outlets uploaded which caused much of the confusion.

Nevertheless, the view is phenomenal, proven by the fact over 350,000 people have watched the video with almost 500 people liking it. The video was uploaded on February 20, 2015, and is currently on the Popular Right Now list for the site. Presently, the video is the 13th most popular.

Now that you’ve seen the video of Niagara Falls frozen (somewhat) from a bird’s eye view, what are your views? Do you find this rare occurrence truly majestic as news outlets are making it out to be, or are you unimpressed?
