The NFL will not suspend Ndamukong Suh for kicking Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin during the Thanksgiving game last week.
The NFL hasn’t released an official statement yet but spokesman Greg Aiello wrote on Twitter that Suh would not be suspended over the incident. The NFL was still reviewing the play, however, and the Detroit Lions’ linesman may still face a fine.
“Our office has notified the Lions that (Ndamukong) Suh will not be suspended for last Thursday’s incident. It will be reviewed for a potential fine.”
Aiello didn’t give a reason for the decision but it’s likely that the NFL couldn’t clearly state that Suh had kicked Schaub on purpose. Suh was facing away from Schaub during the play and the NFL may have decided that the kick was inadvertent. If that’s the case, Suh should avoid a fine as well.
Suh has been at the center of several controversies in the NFL and many people expected the Lions defender to be suspended for kicking Schaub in the groin. The Houston Texans quarterback said on a radio show today that Suh was a dirty player and that he was not “worthy” to be a member of the Houston Texans.
Suh said:
“I’m a storyline … I’m the chosen one for negative stories and controversial things. If I worried about it all, I would go insane. I just want to be a part of something that’s great. Then I won’t have to say anything, because that will always speak for itself.”
