Ndamukong Suh could soon be in trouble again with the NFL. The league said that it would be reviewing the defensive lineman’s controversial kick to Matt Schaub’s groin after this weekend’s games.
Ray Anderson, the NFL’s vice-president of Football operations, said that the league reviews all controversial plays at the end of the week. Anderson said that Suh’s kick drew the NFL’s attention and will be reviewed.
Anderson said:
“In our normal course, we identify hits for potential discipline … Certainly, that will be one that will be reviewed after the weekend’s slate of games as part of normal course of action. … It drew our attention.”
The incident occurred in the first half of the Detroit Lion’s game against the Houston Texans. Suh fell in front of QB Matt Schaub and kicked him in the groin. The NFL may rule that the kick was inadvertent but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Suh fined or suspended for purposefully kicking Schaub.
The Washington Post reports that Suh was suspended for two games after last year’s Thanksgiving game when he stomped on Green Bay Packers’ Evan Dietrich-Smith .
Anderson added that Suh’s past behavior could influence the NFL’s decision.
Anderson said:
“Certainly, we have to go on a player’s history. That will certainly factor into our thinking. . . . If you’re a repeat offender you really aren’t entitled to the benefit of the doubt.”
