NCAA bracket 2015 coverage begins early on Thursday (March 19) as teams begin second-round play. The 2015 NCAA Tournament teams most worth watching on this day include Midwest top seed Kentucky, East top seed Villanova, and second-seeded Arizona from the West. The other top five seeded schools (including Gonzaga) won’t start their play in the 2015 NCAA bracket until Friday (March 20). Kentucky is the top overall team in the tournament and will open against the Hampton Pirates.
CBS reported on some of the teams that could be considered “bracket busters” when they take to the court in the second-round. One of those teams is Michigan State from the Big Ten. The team was on the bubble for a while and received a No. 7 seed from the NCAA Selection Committee. The Spartans play Georgia on Friday and if they win would take on the winner of the Virginia vs. Belmont game. A possible upset pick within the NCAA bracket for 2015 could be Michigan State beating Virginia to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
Sharon Katz of ESPN opined about how college basketball fans should view their brackets with some tips of her own.
By now, we have all heard the advice: You have to pick at least one 5-versus-12 upset and ride a double-digit seed to the Sweet 16. But if everyone in your pool is choosing the same underdog, there is no longer value to picking the upset. To win your pool, you have to find the hidden value picks; merely copying the “national bracket” is rarely going to do the trick. That could mean going against the grain, but the key is finding good teams that might be underrated by the public.
Katz called Gonzaga the “most underrated team in the tournament” and suggested this could be a strong candidate to make the Final Four. On Inquisitr , Gonzaga was called one of the five teams that stands a chance against Kentucky. In the 2015 NCAA bracket, the Bulldogs may have been placed in the weakest of the four regions. The team might eventually have to beat Duke to make the Final Four, but before that its toughest opponents would be Iowa State, Iowa, and SMU. In the second-round, they play against North Dakota State on March 20.
As for the most likely upset getting projected in the second-round, that would be No. 10 Ohio State over No. 7 VCU. At this juncture, those fans participating in NCAA bracket 2015 competitions and contests are going with the Buckeyes by a wide margin. It means that strong consideration might be given to selecting VCU in order to have different potential outcomes than other competitors.
The first game on the NCAA bracket 2015 schedule is No. 3 Notre Dame vs. No. 14 Northeastern in the Midwest Region. That Notre Dame game tips off Thursday, March 19 at 12:15 p.m. ET on CBS .
