NASCAR driver Kurt Busch’s is under investigation for domestic assault for an incident that involves his ex-girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll. The Daily Mail reports that the charges are related to an incident that allegedly happened back in September when Busch was at the Dover International Speedway in Delaware.

Busch and his girlfriend broke up one week prior to the incident that Driscoll claims happened inside the NASCAR star’s motorhome. Although they had already split, the court documents state that Driscoll was with Kurt Busch on September 26 when he started to “call her names” — something that she claims quickly escalated into physical abuse.
“He was verbally abusive to her and said he wished he had a gun so that he could kill himself… he then jumped up, grabbed her face and smashed her head three times against the wall next to the bed.”
Driscoll also claims that Kurt Busch accused her of “having spies everywhere and having a camera on the bus to watch him.” She reportedly “pushed Busch away” and ran to another bus to get an ice pack for injuries she claims have caused her “severe pain, difficulty breathing and bruising on her neck.”
The Motor Racing Network reports that Kurt Busch’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, has disputed Patricia Driscoll’s claims, stating that her allegations are fabricated and his client denies the charges.
“The Dover Police Department has been informed that Mr. Busch will fully cooperate with their investigation, and he expects to be vindicated… this allegation is a complete fabrication by a woman who has refused to accept the end of a relationship, and Mr. Busch vehemently denies her allegations in every respect.”
Busch has yet to be formally charged in the incident. The Sporting News reports that NASCAR is “aware of the situation” and is in the midst of gathering information about the domestic abuses charges Driscoll filed against her ex-boyfriend.
“NASCAR is aware of the investigation involving driver Kurt Busch. We recognize the seriousness of this matter and are actively gathering information from all parties, including law enforcement authorities and Stewart-Haas Racing.”
Patricia Driscoll is the president of the Armed Forces Foundation and met Busch in 2011. MRN reports that shortly after they met, Kurt became a spokesperson and ambassador for the foundation. Once the domestic violence charges were filed, the foundation ended its relationship with Busch “due to the serious nature of the allegations.”

NASCAR driver Kurt Busch is due in court for a hearing on the matter on December 2.
