Muhammad Ali’s health is failing and his brother has warned that the boxing legend “could be dead in days.” Ali’s last public appearance was during the opening ceremony at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Muhammad Ali, born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr, was born in 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. Ali began boxing when he was 12 years old when his bicycle was stolen. Police warned Ali that if he wanted to defend himself properly, he would need to learn how to fight. Ali began training with the officer, Joe Martin, who taught him how to box.

As reported by biography.com , Ali went on to win his first Golden Gloves tournament in 1956 and won an Olympic gold metal in boxing in 1960. Ali quickly became a hero as he went on to win numerous boxing matches. He was known for winning by knocking out his opponent and for his “fancy footwork.” Ali himself was quoted as saying he could “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

In 1984 Ali announced that he was struggling with Parkinson’s disease. Ali has spent his retirement raising money for and supporting various causes such as the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, Special Olympics, and the Make a Wish Foundation.

Rahman Ali, brother of Muhammad has announced that his brother’s battle with Parkinson’s has taken a turn for the worse. As reported by Daily Mail , Rahman has concern that his brother “could be dead in days.” In an interview he discusses his concern:

“He’s in a bad way. He’s very sick. It could be months, it could be days. I don’t know if he’ll last the summer. He’s in God’s hands.”

Rahman and his family are especially concerned as Ali’s wife of 26 years, Yolanda, is reportedly limiting or denying him visitors.

Ali has stated that he wishes to have the words of Martin Luther King on his gravestone, “I tried to love somebody, I did try to feed the hungry.”

Muhammad Ali’s wife refuses to comment on his brother’s warning that the boxing legend “could be dead in days.”
