Alana Nicole Donahue, 27, was arrested on Wednesday after concerned drivers called Springfield, Oregon police . The woman was towing her two children, ages three and five, in a red wagon behind her car. The mother was baffled and didn’t understand “what the big deal” was. Donahue claimed she just wanted to show her kids a “good time.”
According to the Register-Guard , the mother was arrested and charged with two counts of reckless endangering .
Donahue allegedly placed her two young children in a plastic red wagon, which she tied with a strap or similar connector to the back of her white Ford Taurus. Alana repeatedly navigated a roundabout at South 42nd Street and Jasper Road. The vehicle drove around in circles, and Donahue was waving for vehicles to go around her. Traffic began to get backed up and one vehicle nearly hit the children , according to WPXI .
At least four drivers witnessing the dangerous event called Springfield police. One even took pictures and recorded a video of the incident. According to police logs, several drivers confronted Alana. When people started to say something, she attempted to drive away.
Eventually, Alana Nicole Donahue stopped her car and put the wagon inside of the Taurus. She told one witness who confronted her to “be an adult about it.”
While police were on the way, Donahue tried to walk away from the scene with her two children. Authorities caught up with the mother and put her in handcuffs.
Lt. Scott McKee of the Springfield police said the 27-year-old mother didn’t understand what the issue was. She explained the car was only going five miles per hour and she just wanted to show the kids a good time. Police officers said the woman was not intoxicated.

The Department of Human Services placed the children with another person, according to the report. However, it was not made clear if it was a family member, friend, or if the children are in the custody of the state.
