A new beer from Dogfish Head has been released that is made out of moon dust.

Celest-jewel-ale was produced by the Delaware based brewery, who worked alongside ILC Dover, which is a company that makes NASA space suits.

This allowed Dogfish Head access to “lunar meteorites.” After they gathered up the rocks they grounded the pieces of rock up into pieces of moon dust, and alongside various other German malts and hops they “then steeped [it] like tea in a rich, malty Oktoberfest.”

Dogfish Head’s founder Sam Calagione also noted, “These certified moon jewels are made up primarily of mineral and salts, helping the yeast-induced fermentation process and lending this traditional German style a subtle but complex earthiness.”

The beer has been described as possessing a “subtle caramel and a light herbal bitterness.”

However, if you are looking to taste this out of this world beer you might need to travel quite the distance, it is only being served at Dogfish Head’s Rehoboth Beach brewpub in Delaware.

Celest-jewel-ale was created to honour the September night of the harvest moon, which is the full moon that is closest to the fall equinox.

Those interested in purchasing the beer will also have to hand over their driver’s license and drink the beverage at the bar, while Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats have also warned that it is a little bit more expensive that other beers.

However, the brewery has also warned that when the last drop is purchased though, it won’t ever get made again. Celest-jewel-ale is a 5% ABV and 25 IBUs.

Last week, Americans celebrate national beer drink day , which saw numerous pubs, clubs, and bars across the United States serve beer at a cut price to celebrate the occasion.
