Is Miles Teller backpedaling already? He might just be. It was only a few days ago that The Inquisitr reported on Miles Teller’s comments on filming the young adult action film Divergent , and now the actor is saying that his comments were “taken out of context.”

That answer is typical for someone that might have come too close to spelling out the truth in an industry that likes to keep its stars under the thumb of publicists and reps.

For those that are unaware, in an interview Teller said after he was done filming Divergent he felt “dead inside.” The actor continued and said he felt like he “didn’t have an interesting part” in the series. In the profile by Lynn Hirschberg, he said taking a role in Divergent was a business decision.

“When I first read Whiplash , I was feeling dead inside. I didn’t have an interesting part [in Divergent ], and I’d taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I’d done that was going to have an international audience. I called my agent and said, ‘This sucks.’ He told me about Whiplash .”

As stated during an interview with Huffington Post , Teller said his comments about “feeling dead inside” were taken out of context.

Teller told Huff Post , “I guess the business reasons for me were — yeah, it was a smaller part, acting-wise, but it gave me an opportunity to be in a film that would be seen internationally and a big reason why I did it was working with Shailene [Woodley] and working with a director [Neil Burger] who I had just seen his film — “ Limitless ” — which I really enjoyed. So those were the business reasons, although the way [Hirschberg] framed it, people just automatically assume business [is] for money.”

And what about the comment that he felt “dead inside?” Well apparently the actor was filming projects back to back and just felt exhausted by the time the script for Whiplash came around. Of his choice of words he said, “I’m not that poetic. I was just really burnt out. I was drained.”

In the past year Teller has promoted Whiplash , That Awkward Moment , Divergent , and Two Night Stand .

Luckily, Teller already finished filming the Divergent sequel Insurgent but he has yet to promote the film, as it will launch into theaters on March 20, 2015. Hopefully by then he has his story straight.
