The Huckabee Post is Mike Huckabee’s new venture.
The former Arkansas governor and 2008 GOP presidential candidate is launching the news website in January 2014. The Huckabee Post will also cover sports and pop culture in addition to politics. The new journalistic enterprise recently posted a Craigslist help-wanted ad for reporters primarily in New York City and Washington, DC.
David Huckabee, the ex-governor’s son, said that the portal will be a “natural extension and expansion” of his dad’s ongoing commentary and analysis work.
The Mike Huckabee syndicated radio show on the Cumulus Radio Network is ending this month, but he still hosts a weekend show on the Fox News Channel among other media roles.
Huckabee is also leaving the door open to running for president in 2016.
Mike Huckabee served as governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He was elected lieutenant governor of the state in 1993 and subsequently became governor when Democrat Jim Guy Tucker was convicted of fraud in the Whitewater scandal. In 1998, he was elected to a full four-year term and re-elected for a second term in 2002.
In May of this year, the would-be media mogul claimed that the Benghazi cover-up over the four Americans murdered by terrorists at the US embassy compound would force Barack Obama from office. Said Huckabee: “I believe that before it’s all over, this president will not fill out his full term. I know that puts me on a limb, but this is not minor. When a president lies to the American people and is part of a cover-up, he cannot continue to govern. And as the facts come out, I think we’re going to see something startling. And before it’s over, I don’t think this president will finish his term unless somehow they can delay it in Congress past the next three and a half years.”
