The Microsoft Kin may have been discontinued, but Microsoft today pushed out a new firmware build for the unit which fixes some minor issues with the phones social networking capabilities.
Version 1.0, build 2814.0 focuses on Twitter functions, including a Twitter avatar option for the Kin Loop, along with Twitter statuses that work like Facebook and MySpace status updates, including a comment form and feed. Users still can’t ReTweet, however their contacts retweets show up in the Loop, while users can check Twitter bio profiles, website information and other profile data. Kin users can then link to their Kin Contacts just like they can with Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live.
More updates are expected and for a device that is alleged to ahve sold just around 500 units, that’s an impressive guarantee of customer service from Microsoft.
