The Rosie O’Donnell-Michelle Rounds divorce and custody battle is getting downright messy. TMZ is reporting that “soon to be ex-wife” Michelle Rounds says that she is not afraid of Rosie and that nothing will stop her from engaging in a custody war against the former View host. She also denies spreading those nasty rumors that O’Donnell likes to smoke pot and drink wine.
The revelation came after Splash News caught up with her after a drug store run the other night, where she admitted that going through a divorce with a famous person is a tough thing to do.
“Divorce is really hard, but imagine going through a divorce with a celebrity, someone who is very very powerful. Someone who has all the media and the publicists, and all that behind them. I’m just, I’m just a normal person. David vs. Goliath, I don’t know. I don’t understand it.”
She also acknowledged that although this celebrity divorce is sort of like David fighting Goliath, she is not afraid of Rosie O’Donnell anymore.
“I used to be afraid of Rosie. But, I’m not afraid of Rosie anymore because I just want what’s best for Dakota. And what’s best for Dakota is to be with me.”
Some believe that Michelle Rounds may not be afraid of Rosie anymore, but that she might have her eye on that Goliath-like check that having custody would bring once the divorce is final. Others speculate that if what is about to come out in the court papers is true –that O’Donnell is an angry, weed-smoking drunk — then perhaps Dakota would be better off with Michelle Rounds.
For years, Rosie O’Donnell has been accused of being a bully with a terrible temper. One former editor described Rosie as “a combative, foul-mouthed tyrant” who used yelling and cursing as a way to gain control, according to CNN .
In any event, it is definitely sad to see one of the first couples hailed as champions for lesbian parents now dragging each other by the hair in this vicious knockdown fight. Michelle Rounds and Rosie O’Donnell became engaged at the end of 2011 and finally tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony in June, 2012.
