Michael Jordan may think Barack Obama is a great politician, but he believes the leader of the free world is a hack when it comes to the golf course.
In an interview with sportscaster Ahmad Rashad for Back9 , Jordan said he would love to hit the links with the president in his dream foursome, but quickly changed course and blasted Obama’s golf abilities .
When asked about his dream golf group, Michael Jordan said he would first pick golf legend Arnold Palmer. Next up was Obama — at least until Jordan remembered how well Barack can golf.
“I’ve never played with Obama, but I would,’ Jordan said in the interview. “But no — that’s OK — I’d take him out. He’s a hack. I’d be there all day playing with him.”
Ahmad Rashad tried to give Jordan a chance to backtrack the comments.
“Do you really want to say that?” Rashad asked. “He’s the President of the United States — he’s a hack?”
But Michael Jordan only doubled down on his Obama golf criticism.
“I never said he wasn’t a great politician,” Jordan added. “I’m just saying he’s a s***ty golfer.”
While Jordan may be arguably the best basketball player of all time, his personal skills leave much to be desired. The NBA Hall of Famer has a reputation as bit difficult to deal with. Even longtime friend Charles Barkley said the two had a falling out over Jordan’s inability to take criticism.
“I think that Michael was upset by some of the things I said about the Bobcats,” Barkley told Yahoo Sports’ Graham Bensinger . “Which, No.1, they were true. I can’t — you know, I told you earlier; I’m going to be honest, and I’m going to be fair. And the Bobcats — first of all, he’s doing a much better job. But a couple years ago — I want say three years ago — when they were vying for the worst record in NBA history, Michael had not done a good job. He took it personally.”
While Michael Jordan may not be too high on his abilities, Barack Obama is actually a seasoned golfer. He’s played an estimated 200 rounds of golf since taking office, which is actually just a shade below Tiger Woods for the same time frame. The Daily Caller even calculated that Obama has spent more time golfing than he has listening to daily intelligence briefings.
