Melissa Rivers inherited millions of dollars after her mother’s death, and now she is planning a major lawsuit against the clinic that performed surgery on Joan before she died. According to TMZ , Melissa has no choice but to sue Yorkville Endoscopy LLC if she wants to find out her mom’s cause of death. While it’s beyond obvious that Melissa doesn’t need the money, she does want answers… and she wants to ensure that this type of thing doesn’t happen to any other patients in the future.
“The only way to know precisely what happened is to file a lawsuit, which entitles her to force doctors and facility staff to sit for sworn depositions and answer questions about what happened the day Joan stopped breathing,” TMZ reports.
Melissa Rivers is worth millions after her mom left her $100 million in her will. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Melissa was left $75 million in cash and another $35 million in real estate — Joan owned an amazing condo on New York’s Upper East Side which will soon be in Melissa’s name.
According to Perez Hilton , Melissa wants to hold someone accountable for her mother’s untimely death, mainly because it was deemed “preventable.” In order to do so, Melissa needs to know exactly what happened on that fateful August day (Joan went into cardiac arrest during a throat procedure and was put on life support for a week).
“Melissa plans to sue the medical center and the doctors in order to get to the root of the problem. She feels like she has been shut down after the New York Dept. of Health and Human Services found Yorkville Endoscopy LLC to be ‘deficient.’ She believes both the facility and Dept. of Health know what went wrong, but aren’t informing her of the exact cause.”
Melissa Rivers couldn’t care less about the millions left to her in her mother’s will. She would do anything to have her mother back in her life. Since that cannot happen, Melissa is going to put some of that money to good use. She will pay an expert legal team to get to the bottom of this and maybe then will she finally have some closure.
“It’s become very clear to Melissa and experts she has spoken to that her mother didn’t have to die. This was a routine endoscopy that went wrong. Melissa has also been told that staff members at Yorkville Endoscopy revealed a shocking detail to medical investigators looking into Joan’s death — something occurred during the procedure that wasn’t medically related.”
