Mary J. Blige is heading to the world series.
The nine-time Grammy winner will be singing the national anthem before game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night.
MLB.com notes that this isn’t the first time that Blige has been invited to the World Series. She also sang the national anthem before game 6 of of the 2009 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals have both earned a spot in the World Series this year. The singer didn’t say who she was rooting for but she did say that she was excited to be apart of baseball history.
Blige said: “It is an honor to have the opportunity to perform the national anthem… I’ve conducted countless performances across the globe throughout my illustrious career, but performing the anthem at Yankee Stadium during the 2009 World Series was beyond a thrill, and so I’m looking forward to again being a part of baseball’s great history.”
The first pitch of the 109th Fall Classic will be thrown at 8:07 EST at Fenway Park. The broadcast will start at 7:30 pm on Fox.

Blige probably isn’t rooting for anyone in particular this year. She’s a Yankees fan but that’s only if she’s forced to choose a team. The singer said before her performance at the 2009 awards that she has never been to a baseball game.
Blige said: “I’ve never been to the stadium in all my life living here… I’ve never been to a baseball game before. Ever.”
But we can excuse Blige’s lack of baseball enthusiasm because, well, she’s a pretty good singer.
