Somehow someone thought it would be a great idea to greenlit another Taken film. The series which stars Liam Neeson as a retired CIA agent pulled back into his line of work will have one last final installment, appropriately titled Taken 3 .
Actress Maggie Grace , who has appeared in both films as Neeson’s daughter is now officially set to appear in the last and final Taken installment as Kim. As of right now it’s believed that Neeson’s franchise will end with Taken 3 , but if it pulls in a bigger box office than the second one, who knows.
It wouldn’t be a huge feat to beat the box office for Taken 2 . Although it was a box office success, it didn’t touch the $140 million the first film took in. Combine that with the horrible reviews Taken 2 received..
Taken and Taken 2 combined is obviously a much bigger number and has produced an impressive $600 million worldwide. Fortunately as opposed to the other two films, Liam Neeson signed a deal that agreed he would come back if and only if there would be a strict “no taking” policy for the third film. It’s a smart move for all parties involved, seeing as the “taking” plot got stale, and a third “taking” wouldn’t really add to anything. Back in 2012 , Robert Mark Kamen said of the decision, “We’ve taken everyone we can take — it’s going to go in another direction.”
As for Maggie Grace, her role as Kim has expanded throughout the series. In the first film, her character was taken while vacationing. In the second film, she got in on the action and was given a more meatier role. As for the third, it’s assumed to be heavily focused on Neeson for obvious reasons, but we’re also expecting Maggie Grace’s role to be just as involved as she was in the second.
In addition to Maggie Grace’s role in the third film, it’s rumored that Famke Janssen is returning for her third Taken film. She’s said to reprise her role as Kim’s mother.
As for the plot, there’s nothing out on the new Taken film aside from Liam Neeson’s “no taking” policy. We do know that Forest Whitaker is currently eyeing some kind of role, although it wasn’t said whether or not he still is and how big his role will be in the last installment. Our guess is that he will play a positive influence in the lives of the Mills.
Currently there’s no set release date for Taken 3 .
