Mackenzie Douthit reportedly had suicidal thoughts after her time with MTV.
Following a stint on 16 & Pregnant , Mackenzie Douthit and her now-husband, Josh McKee, appeared on Teen Mom 3 , which aired on the network for one season before being canceled due to low ratings. Although Mackenzie Douthit didn’t appear to be much different than other young mothers dealing with the normal stresses of parenthood, she was dealing with suicidal thoughts, according to a report by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup on June 18, which she recently opened up about in a candid blog post .
“Being on TV for just a short time and sort of being in the spot light in my small hometown was not easy. It seems that people would watch my every move and even dig real deep on my past so they could have something to hold against me. They began to forget my name and I just became that ‘teen mom girl.’ I felt like they saw me as a robot and not a human.”
Although Mackenzie Douthit didn’t reveal exactly when she began having suicidal thoughts, she revealed she turned to her husband, McKee, in hopes of getting to a healthier place.
“I hid, I would stay off social media, I would stay home, I was scared to go out, and I clung to my boyfriend who is now my husband…I felt he was all I had. I didn’t have dreams anymore, I would pray to God to either help me out of the country or send me home to heaven.”
Luckily, Mackenzie Douthit eventually made it out of her dark time, and has continued to chronicle her mental challenges in a journey.
“Being a happy person made me a stronger person, a better wife, a better mom, and a better friend.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Mackenzie Douthit has had a big year . Not only did the former Teen Mom 3 star settle her marital issues with McKee after a near divorce months ago, she’s also recently released a single, and debuted a pair of new breasts. In an interview with Wetpaint Entertainment earlier this month, Douthit confirmed she and McKee hit a rough patch in their relationship, which ultimately led the couple to consider a separation and divorce.
Mackenzie Douthit and Josh McKee have two children together, son Gannon, and daughter Jaxie. They have been married since June, 2013 (their wedding took place in August, 2013).
