With Comic Con currently going on there’s bound to be a few rumors that emerge from several junkets. This time around it’s a rumor that has J.J. Abrams , the man behind Star Trek, exiting Star Wars.

Badass Digest writer Devin Faraci had insinuated that J.J. Abrams would be leaving Star Wars: Episode VII, which had been a rumor spreading around for some time.

However, only a few hours after that, Lucasfilm made a statement, claiming that Abrams is very much still involved and will direct Star Wars: Episode VII. At first there was speculation about scheduling issues that might conflict with Abrams’ other franchise Star Trek.

Lucasfilm released a statement to IGN to clear up the whole mess that occurred at Comic Con regarding J.J. and Star Wars .

Regardless Abrams’ involvement in his other franchise Star Trek, Faraci wrote a whole post today about the details regarding that film. According to the writer, he has learned from unnamed sources that Star Trek will be hiring new writers for the next sequel.

In the post that details Star Trek, he said:

“This has been something I’ve heard for a while now, and from multiple insiders. I know that he didn’t want to shoot the movie in England and was overruled, but that happened a while ago. This weekend at Comic Con I continued to hear these whispers.”

“No director for ‘Trek 3’ has been found yet— might Abrams end up coming back after all, leaving ‘Star Wars’ to someone else? I’m expecting Star Wars news out of the German Star Wars Celebration at the end of the month— if there is some sort of announcement of a title or casting and Abrams isn’t there, start wondering.”

What do you make of these J.J. Abrams rumors? Do you think the director will come forward and set the record straight?
