Lorde has teamed up with Disclosure for a new single called “Magnets.” Lorde co-wrote the song with Disclosure’s brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence, and during Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, Lorde premiered the new track.
Lorde says that she feels as if she has chemistry with the brothers, since they are all relatively close in age.
“I feel like we’re navigating this weird world together where, like, we play a club, and they’re like, ‘Well, you’re actually not old enough to be in this club. We’re going to have to monitor you very strictly.’ So I feel like, for that reason, there’s some common ground.”
Disclosure, who is currently in the middle of making their second LP Caracal , added some heavy ammo to their vocals, including the likes of Miguel, Sam Smith, and The Weeknd. Disclosure recently talked with the Rolling Stone about their expierence with Lorde .
“She turned up on her own, no management or bodyguard. That’s that most equal collaboration on the record. You can really hear her sound, she has this sassy yet vulnerable thing.”
After being asked about Lorde’s second LP, a follow-up to Pure Heroine , she shared some insights.
“The challenge for me as a songwriter is, ‘How do I tell all these friends that I’ve made around the world how I’m feeling, while still making something they can listen to and relate to going to college and leaving home or whatever?’”
Lorde posted on her Tumblr back in May explaining her creative mindset for her next LP, which is currently untitled.
“First records are like meeting someone and feeling that need to do everything, just in case for whatever reason, you run out of time, or they stop feeling the same way as you. I feel much calmer, more comfortable in my love of doing this, and its apparent love for me, this time around. So there’s that.”
