With a defeat to their most hated rivals, Liverpool could now terminate the reign of Brendan Rodgers sooner rather than later. Liverpool’s 3-1 loss at Old Trafford was a humiliating experience for Brendan Rodgers and his team and now a huge contingency of fans has now turned against the Liverpool manager despite having played just five games into the season.
Brendan Rodgers was seen as many as favorite for being the first manager to be fired ahead of the new season due to Liverpool’s tepid finish in the last. But, wins against Stoke and Bournemouth and a spirited away draw at the Emirates stadium eased the pressure on the Northern Ireland native.
However, a 3-0 home defeat to West Ham brought Liverpool back to earth while the loss to Manchester United deflated any optimism any Liverpool fan had going into the new season. Brendan Rodgers blamed the lack of creativity for the lost despite featuring five of his new attacking signings.
“We didn’t keep the ball for long enough to create opportunities, but we didn’t give away too much either in the first half – it was only really when we gave the ball cheaply and put ourselves under pressure. So it was 0-0 at half-time, we’re OK and looking to play better in the second half.”
Rodgers added, “I just felt we needed to be much better in terms of showing for the ball and wanting the ball. For me, it’s too late when you go 1-0 behind. I like players who take the initiative in the game, be proactive in the game, and second half we were a bit better at that.”

Liverpool have now scored just three goals in five games while conceding six. With such dire figures, Liverpool fans have been expressing their frustration with the manager especially given the availability of Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti.
