Are you ready for some new Jay-Z music? You can listen to the new track “ Magna Carta Holy Grail ” below. And yes, you don’t even need a Samsung phone.

The new song wa s released this morning to over 1 million Samsung users who downloaded the Magna Carta app and now “Holy Grail” is available online.

The new song features vocals from Justin Timberlake and lyrics borrowed from Nirvana. It was co-written by The Dream (and Kurt Cobain) and produced by Timbaland.

The new album will also feature guest vocals from people like Rick Ross, Frank Ocean, and Beyoncé. Music fans may be excited for the new release but not everyone is a big fan of how Jay-Z is promoting the new album .

The singer teamed up with Samsung for some bizarre hybrid marketing / release scheme and some people aren’t too happy about giving up some privacy in order to here Hova’s new record. According to Spin , some Samsung users aren’t too happy with giving the “extensive permissions and privacy requests” made by the Magna Carta app.

Others just don’t think that the music is that great. Rick Rubin gave the album a backhanded compliment, saying : “I liked what I heard, but it was a little difficult—after just coming from the Kanye sessions—to listen to Jay’s album, because they’re so different. I was in a very alternative and progressive headspace, and Jay’s record is a more traditional hip-hop record.”

So the album may not be that great and Samsung users may have to sacrifice a little privacy to hear it. But hey, at least there’s some new Jay-Z music in the world.

Here’s the singer’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail.”

What do you think of the new Jay-Z song? Did you have an issue with the Magna Carta’s privacy requests?
