Looks like Lisa Kudrow will be calling a new network home. The F.R.I.E.N.D.S. star, who has had her fair share of ill-fated starring television shows, is joining the ensemble of an already hit television show. According to Deadline , Kudrow will join ABC’s Scandal for its upcoming third season.

In true Shonda Rhimes fashion details about Kudrow’s character haven’t been revealed, and probably won’t be revealed until the episode airs. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva has noted that Kudrow will play a politician, but seeing as this is a drama centered in Washington, D.C. that was kind of a given.

For Kudrow she makes her return to primetime network television, which is a huge commitment given her already busy schedule. Currently she stars in her web series turned TV show Web Therapy .

Since F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Kudrow has focused on her work as a producer. In addition to producing her series Web Therapy , she has also produced television show Who Do You Think You Are? and her canceled HBO show The Comeback . In 2009 she produced the Natalie Portman-vehicle The Other Woman , whick saw Kudrow as a neurotic, bitter ex-wife, opposite Portman, who played her ex’s younger wife.

In addition to her work on television, Lisa Kudrow has made memorable appearances in film including, Analyze This , Hanging Up , P.S. I Love You , Paper Man , and Easy A .

Kudrow hasn’t received regular television exposure since the high rated NBC show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. went off the air in 2004. Recently Kudrow was interviewed with her NBC co-star Matthew Perry at which time they both admitted that they wished the show could have gone on longer.

Of F.R.I.E.N.D.S Kudrow said , “If it was up to us I would keep going. I figure there probably would’ve come a time anyway when someone would’ve said, ‘We’ve had enough,’ but why not have fun until they do?”

As for Kudrow’s new role on Scanda l, viewers will have to wait for the series to return in September to see what kind of trouble she’ll be stirring up for Olivia Pope.
