Lindsey Vonn admits that she doesn’t play it safe when it comes to the slopes, but now that may cost her a chance at the 2014 Olympics.
Just days before she was scheduled to ski in her first competition since suffering a devastating knee injury, Vonn again took a tumble on the slopes. She was going through a training run at Copper Mountain in Colorado when she crashed .
Lindsey Vonn will now undergo an MRI, according to Ski Racing magazine .
It wasn’t clear which knee Vonn injured in the most recent crash. In February, she blew out her right knee at the World Championships in February.
“No details yet. Yes she did crash and is being evaluated now,” the U.S. Ski Team said in an email.
But U.S. officials said they don’t believe the injury will be too much of a setback.
“We have no reason to believe it’s anything significant right now,” US Ski Team spokesman Tom Kelly said, according to the AP.
Vonn had been rehabbing her knee for months, and recently said that it was finally back to 100 percent.
In the past, Lindsey Vonn has admitted that she can’t help taking risks on the slopes.
“I’m a little bit reckless. It’s really rare that I’m afraid to do something. Usually people have to hold me back,” Vonn said in an interview with USA TODAY Sports before the season. “I like to do things fast. I drive a car too fast. I jet ski too fast. I’m pretty fearless all around.”
But this injury could be quite costly. If Lindsey Vonn has re-injured her right knee, she would be at risk of missing the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
